Threaded gate valve is a small-bore on-off valve widely used for water, oil and gas pipelines in residential plumbing, building water supply, heating systems and small industrial equipment. It adopts threaded end connection, featuring simple structure, easy installation and compact size. Without flange connection, it occupies less installation space and is favored for narrow pipeline layouts. According to sealing forms, it can be divided into metal seated gate valve and resilient seated soft seal gate valve to satisfy different medium and working condition requirements.
The threaded connection mainly includes BSP, BSPP and NPT thread standards to match global common pipe fittings. Workers can directly screw the valve onto pipelines without additional flanges, which greatly shortens construction time and reduces auxiliary material costs. The threaded interface has good connection tightness when assembled with thread seal tape, effectively preventing leakage at the joint. Most threaded gate valves are designed in small sizes, generally ranging from 1/2 inch up to 2 inch, suitable for branch pipelines and terminal control points.
For ductile iron threaded resilient seated gate valve, the valve body is made of high-strength ductile iron. Inner and outer walls are treated with fusion bonded epoxy coating, non-toxic and suitable for drinking water transmission. The integrally vulcanized EPDM rubber wedge realizes bidirectional zero leakage sealing. The elastic sealing surface can compensate minor abrasion during long-term operation and keep stable tightness even with tiny sediment inside pipelines. Metal seated threaded gate valve usually uses cast iron or brass material, adopting metal-to-metal sealing, applicable for high temperature steam and oil medium.
Two stem structures are optional: rising stem and non-rising stem. The rising stem type can intuitively display opening status, convenient for inspection; non-rising stem saves vertical space and adapts to compact installation environments. The valve stem adopts stainless steel material with precise threads. Multi-layer packing prevents medium leakage along the stem. Blowout-proof stem structure enhances safety under pressure fluctuation. The operating torque is moderate, easy to open and close manually by handwheel.
Common nominal pressure reaches PN16, meeting most civil and light industrial working conditions. It should be emphasized that threaded gate valve is only designed for fully open or fully closed cut-off service. Throttling application is forbidden. Long-term partial opening will lead to medium scouring, vibration and permanent damage to sealing surfaces.
All threaded gate valves undergo strict shell hydrostatic test and seat tightness test according to ISO 5208 before leaving factory. Compared with flanged gate valves, threaded type has obvious advantages in small caliber projects: light weight, low cost, fast installation and convenient disassembly for maintenance.
Threaded gate valve can be selected with brass, cast iron and ductile iron materials to fit tap water, wastewater, fuel oil and low-pressure steam. It is extensively applied in household plumbing, commercial buildings, heating pipelines and small water treatment equipment. Our factory supports different thread standards and customized material requirements. Compact structure, reliable sealing and convenient assembly make threaded gate valve an essential shut-off valve for small-bore pipeline systems all over the world.
