Butterfly Check Valve

Butterfly Check Valve, commonly named dual plate wafer check valve, is an automatic one-way valve widely used in municipal water supply, HVAC circulating water, fire protection systems, water treatment and general industrial fluid pipelines. The valve automatically prevents medium backflow by relying on fluid pressure, protecting water pumps and pipeline facilities from reverse flow impact. It has become a cost-effective pipeline protection component.

The valve body is cast from high-strength ductile iron with good pressure resistance and impact toughness. Adopting wafer clamping structure, the valve is clamped between two pipeline flanges by through bolts. Ultra-thin body greatly saves installation space compared with swing check valves and lift check valves, suitable for projects with limited space. The internal structure consists of two symmetric butterfly plates and torsion springs. When medium flows forward, fluid thrust pushes the two valve plates to open; when flow stops and backflow occurs, spring force and reverse medium pressure drive the valve plates to close rapidly.

The sealing form can be selected as soft seal or metal hard seal. Soft seal version realizes tight shut-off, suitable for tap water, fire service water and other clean water media. Metal hard seal type adapts to high temperature and high pressure working conditions. The valve disc, pivot and torsion spring are made of stainless steel, with good corrosion resistance and stable reset performance. The streamlined internal structure brings small flow resistance, which effectively reduces pipeline energy consumption.

Standard pressure grades include PN10 and PN16, covering complete specifications DN40~DN1200. This valve is generally suitable for horizontal pipeline installation; customized vertical installation structure can be provided according to working conditions. The applicable medium is mainly clean water, and special anti-corrosion treatment can be customized for weak corrosive fluid.

It should be noted that butterfly check valve is an automatic one-way valve and cannot serve as shut-off valve. Installation direction must comply with the flow arrow marked on valve body. Regular maintenance should check whether the spring is fatigued and whether the sealing surface has scaling or abrasion, to guarantee sensitive opening and closing action.

All finished valves pass strict shell hydrostatic test and sealing tightness test before delivery. Each product is inspected to ensure flexible action and reliable sealing. Compared with other types of check valves, dual plate butterfly check valve features light weight, low pressure loss, short structural length and lower engineering cost.
