Swing Check Valve is a classic automatic one-way pipeline protection valve, widely used in municipal water supply, fire fighting systems, water treatment stations, HVAC circulating water and industrial fluid pipelines. It relies on medium flow force to open the valve disc automatically and closes by gravity and reverse medium pressure once backflow happens, preventing fluid reverse flow and protecting pumps and piping equipment.
The valve body is cast from high-strength ductile iron or cast iron with excellent pressure resistance and structural stability. Most products adopt flanged connection, which provides stable and reliable connection strength and facilitates disassembly for inspection and maintenance. The internal movable component is a swing valve disc hinged on the valve body. When medium flows forward, fluid pressure pushes the valve disc to swing upward and open the passage; when the flow stops, gravity and backflow pressure drive the valve disc to swing back and seal against the valve seat.
According to working conditions, soft sealing and metal hard sealing options are available. Soft seal swing check valve achieves tight shut-off with almost zero leakage, suitable for tap water, fire service water and other clean medium. Metal hard seal version can adapt to high temperature and high pressure environments. The hinge shaft and pin are made of stainless steel to resist rust and ensure flexible swing action for a long time. The straight-through internal channel brings relatively low flow resistance during operation.
Standard pressure grades include PN10 and PN16. Complete specifications cover DN50 to DN1200. Normally this valve is suitable for horizontal pipeline installation; special structure can be customized for vertical pipelines with upward medium flow direction. It is mainly applicable to clean water, and anti-corrosion treatment can be customized for mildly corrosive medium.
Important installation notes: Swing check valve cannot be used as shut-off valve. Installation direction must follow the flow arrow marked on the valve body. Avoid installing in pipelines with frequent small flow fluctuations, otherwise repeated swinging of the valve disc will accelerate abrasion. Regular maintenance is required to clean sediment and check hinge flexibility and sealing surface integrity.
All finished valves pass strict shell hydrostatic test and sealing tightness test before delivery. Each unit is inspected to guarantee flexible swing and reliable sealing performance. Compared with dual plate butterfly check valve, swing check valve has larger flow passage and better adaptability for large-diameter main pipelines.
